Scorpion   Scorpion   Repaired Delam

Here is a delam I repaired last week. The pool was drained when I got there. As I usually do when I repair a delam on pebble type finishes I tap around with a small chisel to find the outer edges of the delaminated pebble tec. I made a cut along the outside edge of the delam, then I tried to pry the loose pieces off with my fingers, there is almost always an opening for me to get my fingers into and lift or pull the loose pebble off. Well up until this time did I ever think that this was a bad idea? No, now I think differently!

As soon as I pulled off a large chunk of the material I saw this scorpion, he didn’t seem real happy to see me, nor I him. I didn’t want to get back to work on the problem till I was sure he was WAY out of my way. I got a picture or two and this video. If you have never seen how the business end of a scorpion works here is your opportunity.

I finished the repair as you can see in the third picture. This patch is still wet here but as it cures (dries) it will match the surrounding finish.

A scorpion was harmed in the making of this video. Did I need to tell you that?
